MommaSnapsBack Choco Frosting!

I’ve tried a lot of recipes that turned out like whipped chocolate soup, pudding, chocolate paste and other disasters. For some reason, frosting has never been my strong area, so I usually default to store bought cans from the baking aisle (truth bomb!)

BUT, this recipe is strong and has turned out well for me a few times. It turns out wrong when I try to make a lot of adjustments, so I just mostly leave it alone and hope that the Pillsbury dough boy is proud of me for following instructions and not trying to always be a food artist. haha

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Salted Butter (unsalted is fine, but add a pinch of salt)
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Shortening (Don't accidentally use MEAT shortening. Oops. Shhhh... i've never done that)
  • 3 1/2 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Cocoa Powder (you can use a "scant" more or less but try to stick close to this)
  • 4 tablespoons Whole Milk or Almond Milk

Instructions

  1. Combine butter and shortening. Cream together on med speed about 2 min. until smooth
  2. Sift in 1/2 of the powdered sugar. Mix on low 30 sec then increase to Medium speed and mix until smooth.
  3. Sift in the other half of powdered sugar. Mix on low 30 sec then increase to Medium speed and mix until smooth.
  4. Sift in cocoa. Mix on low 30 sec then increase to Medium speed and mix until smooth.
  5. Mixture will be thick. Add 2-3 tbsp of the milk and beat until smooth. add the rest as needed to reach desired texture.
  6. Pipe onto your cooled cupcakes.
  7. Serve, Enjoy, and MAKE GOOD CHOICES!
